I’m Here to Help

Hi, I’m Cindy (or Miss Cindy to the kids I work with). I specialize in working in three areas.

One: I work with children of divorce, separation, foster care or adoption to help them find a safe space and a way to work through the feelings for which they don’t have words yet, through therapeutic play.

Two: I work with tweens and teens who are struggling to deal with our complex world and growing up. I support them in seeing their value and finding coping strategies that affirm them and provide relief from anxious compulsions, depressive symptoms, and even self-harm.

Three: I work with teens and adults with chronic health issues to help them deal with long-term suffering, identify strategies that provide relief from emotional, physical and relational pain, and feeling unseen or unheard. My clients who are living with chronic health conditions have shared with me that sometimes more painful than the disease is the experience of feeling unheard.

I look forward to walking beside you on your journey of healing head and heart.

What are your fees? How do I pay? Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept any insurance plans.  You will be responsible for payment by check, cash or credit card at the time services are rendered.        Missed appointments or appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be billed at the regular session rate.

Is Christian counseling for me?

Dr. Ron Cook, Clinical Director of Abundant Life Christian Counseling, states it this way, “The Bible gives us some direction in John 10:10 where Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” If something in your life is keeping you from enjoying the abundant life that God has for you then counseling could be right for you.

What is your experience working with young people ?

In addition to raising my own children, I was a teacher for 15 years working with students from kindergarten through high school. I currently work in a school district as a mental health professional.  I counsel elementary and middle school students daily.

I am under supervision using play therapy techniques through the Florida Association for Play Therapy towards the registered play therapist credential to deliver the most research-based and effective counseling experience for youth.

What is your treatment approach?

I integrate person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, play therapy, ACT, DBT, expressive arts therapy and family systems therapy. For those wanting a Biblical perspective, I provide that as well.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, Florida Mental Health Counselors Association, and American Association of Christian Counselors.
